This site contains a monument dedicated to the number of unmarked graves of the islands Black inhabitants. The monument acts as a sentinel over the final resting place of an unnamed Black family that all fell victim to the Spanish Flu in circa 1918. The site at the time was a private cemetery owned by the Richardson family, before incorporation into Highfield. Being refused burial by church, this location was their final resting place. The stone was erected by the Highfield Cemetery Trust.
