Zion Baptist Church was built in 1895-1896 for the congregation of the First Baptist Church in Yarmouth (originally located on Main Street) and designed by local architect James E Huestis. Unfortunately, the church could not be saved and was demolished in 2014. The Yarmouth County Historical Society, who owns and operates the Yarmouth County Museum, acquired the property and adjacent parking lot in 2015. This greenspace provides a place for the church bell to commemorate this historic site and has since welcomed the Sara Corning statue to commemorate the Armenian Genocide that took place during WWII and the Yarmouth nurse whose act of bravery saved hundreds of Arminian children. This park is accessible by wheelchair, has an interpretive panel for Sara Corning, and a bench. This park is being developed with flower beds, extra seating and plans for a fountain are being developed.

This historic site has been and continues to be a quiet place of contemplation by the general public and visitors alike. The history of Zion Church is not forgotten.
