At the Millennium, government and private financing was used to collect typical « ore » from Canadian mines located from Labrador to B.C. Basic geological specimens from across the country were also collected, including a modern Inukshuk from Baffin Island.
Physical signage backed up with QR coding allows individuals to explore this free access Canadian geological maze at their own pace. Almost 200 exhibits, (with the largest one at 45 Tonne in size!), have been moved to this site.
The grounds and buildings were originally part of the famous Haileybury School of Mines, initiated in 1912, and operated now as the Haileybury Campus of Northern College.
In 2024-2025, a 75 exhibit regional Arboretum is being added to the landscape. These woody species will be typical of Canadian Plant Hardiness Zone « 3b ». Signage and QR coding will also be present for all to learn more about the exhibits.
This public education park is open all year with QR codes for independent tour experiences.
