This 147.8 acre mixed woodland celebrates gold medalist Dr. George Genereux, an accomplished radiologist, author, illustrator, and speaker across North America.  Youngest winner of the Canadian Lou Marsh, Genereux was an all round athlete, who gave it up due to crippling ailment, Ankylosing spondylitis.

The forest celebrates two large areas of native trembling aspen bluffs which are home to a wide variety of native plants and animals.  This habitat is further supplemented by hardy drought resistant trees planted 50 years ago under advisement from the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration PFRA.  Because of the unique mixed woodlands, on either side of this park is a different eco-system adventure to explore.  The amur maples have taken to this park, providing a feel of Eastern Canada in the prairies with the rich vibrant red leaves in the autumnal months.

A great greenspace to explore, the Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas offer guided tours, and bio-blitzes to connect with nature as we come to the 50th anniversary in 2022, the same year we commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Helsinki Olympic Games and George Genereux’s only Gold Medal win for Canada.
