The world’s first long-distance phone call was made by Alexander Graham Bell on August 10, 1876 and we want to celebrate during Historic Places Days.
The call traveled on existing telegraph wire between in Brantford, and Paris, Ontario. The test was a massive success, proving that voice transmission could be achieved over geographical distances rather than just between rooms.
Join for heritage tours, fun and games and a day of celebrations. Visit with teams from Bell Homestead, the County of Brant heritage team, Brant Museum and Gallery and The Paris Museum as we illuminate this exciting historical moment.
