Willowbank was founded in 2003. It’s a National Historic site, a charitable corporation, a cultural heritage centre, and an aspiring UNESCO Global Geopark. The sites natural setting is located beside a ravine overlooking the Niagara gorge river. It’s been the site of more than 8,000 years of continuous occupation and embedded human history including five carefully preserved cultural landscapes including identified First Nations layers. Willowbank is home to a School of Restoration Arts, focusing on traditional craft skills and heritage conservation training, as well as a Cultural Landscape research centre.
