‘Raoul Wallenberg Holocaust Memorial Park’, Montreal

Located at 1444 Union Avenue Montreal, prior to entering the Anglican Diocese of Montreal lies one of the most renowned of ‘Quiet Gardens’, here in the City of Montreal.

The garden, located behind Christ Church Cathedral and Les Promenades les Cathedral, offers an oasis of calm amongst the bustle of downtown Montreal.

The Park is called ‘Raoul Wallenberg Holocaust Memorial Park’.  Dedicated to Raoul Wallenberg, Canada’s first honorary citizen. Wallenberg was a Swedish non-Jew who saved more Hungarian Jews in four months in 1944. The United Nations has called him “the greatest humanitarian of the 20th century.” ( Mtl., Gazette)

The park is impeccably maintained by Strathmore Landscape and offers an array of seasonal flowers throughout the summer season.

The inspired KPMG Tower complex, was recently acquired by Group Petra.  The architectural complete was designed by the firm of Menkès Shooner Dagenais Létourneux Architects, in 1987, and is Certified Boma Best Gold. The KPMG tower stands out for its unique postmodern architecture;  its reinforced concrete, aluminum and glass structure and its curtain wall system that offers occupants an exceptional view and maximum light.

An exceptional underground shopping concourse, ‘Les Promenades du Cathedral’ sits directly underneath historic Christ Church Cathedral.  A connecting tower allows direct access from the Anglican Diocese Offices to Christ Church Cathedral.

Christ Church Cathedral, built between (1857-1860) in Anglican Gothic Revival architecture, has been classified Historic by the Cultural Historic Board of Quebec, classified Historic Monument in 1988.  It has also been classified as a National Historic Site of Canada, Christ Church Cathedral designated National Historic Site of Canada in 1999.
