The Smiths Falls Heritage House Museum invites artists to the picturesque grounds of the museum to create an original work of art that captures the beauty of Smiths Falls where industrial heritage meets the natural landscape, in the tradition of en plein air art making.
This competition is open to artists of all mediums. Artists will have the weekend (August 6th & 7th) to complete an original work of art and submit it to the museum’s gallery, where they will then be reviewed by a Jury.
All submitted pieces will be displayed in the museum’s gallery until Saturday, October 8th, 2022, in a showcase of local talent. A jury of art professionals will review submissions and select one winner to receive a prize of $1000 and the title of Rideau Artist of the Year.
The Smiths Falls and District Arts & Culture Council will also be hosting an artisan market on the grounds of the museum on August 6th. If you’re interested in being a vendor for the artisan market, please contact the Smiths Falls & District Arts and Culture Council at smithsfallsarts@gmail.com.
