Inspired by the Palolithic Fertility Idols found in Europe that date back between 33,000 and 20,000 years ago, create your own personal totem(s) while learning an intuitive figurative sculpting method. Led by Paige Madill, her intention with this modern re-interpretation is to create sculptural fine art that can also be used as a tool to ground and connect with your body.
Paige will teach you her method of figurative sculpture making, with an emphasis on spontaneity and letting the clay help guide your hand in the making of a personalized ‘Venus Idol’. Exploring shape and form with her method of abstract representation. We will celebrate the diversity of our bodies, the changing nature of life, and the birth of creations that aim to replicate the experience of inhabiting physical forms.
You will take home beautiful sculpture, a lesson in art history, along with new skills in figurative ceramics. All with the hope of connecting your artistic practice with one’s own personal spiritual practice.
