The fort itself is a replica of a fur-trading post that was established on the shore of Lake of the Prairies in 1741. It is located in the west end of Dauphin near the Vermillion River complete with a pioneer home, trading post, blacksmith shop, trapper’s cabin, church and a one-room schoolhouse.
