Located in the lower level of Centre 2000, the Heritage Discovery Centre (HDC) is an engaging, interpretive museum that takes visitors through a geological and industrial time-line as portrayed from the Mesozoic Era, through the last Ice Age and into the development of local, natural resources.
Content rich displays, video documentaries and hands-on exhibits give visitors a multi-sensory perception of what life what like for those who called Grande Prairie and area home. The Heritage Discovery Centre is also home to ‘Piper’, a life-size, animatronic dinosaur who represents the Pachyrhinosaurus species discovered in the Peace Country.
The Kin Gallery is a flexible exhibit space which changes regularly to feature travelling and custom exhibits such as the “Don Everton Radio Collection” (2016) and “Horses, Wagons & Cowboys: The Chuckwagon Story” (2017). A special Sasquatch exhibit will be featured coming soon September 2018!
The Discovery Centre offers a high level of accessibility and is suitable for all ages.
HDC is open 7 days a week, year-round and admission is always FREE!
