The Founders’ Museum and Pioneer Village is located in Slate River Ontario, just outside of Thunder Bay. The village consists of 12 buildings that recreate a pioneer village. Each building contains objects that would have been found in a pioneer village dating from the late 1800 up to 1949. Some buildings, such as the town hall, school, and church are all historic buildings from around the Oliver Paipoonge area. Other buildings such as the train station, general store, and farm house are all reconstructions built on sight. The village offers an unique chance for visitors to take a walk through the past and experience how our ancestors lived. Open between May-September, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday noon to 4:30pm with admissions by donation.
