The Boarding house of famed Canadian author, Lucy Maud Montgomery, from August 1894 to May 1895, during her first teaching position in Bideford No. 6 School. This house was constructed in 1878 for Thomas H. Pope, Accountant and Telegraph Operator, and appears in the 1880 Meachams Prince Edward Island Atlas. The house has many unique and interesting architectural features. The Pope family lived in the house for only 6 years before selling it to the Bideford Methodist Church in 1884 for their Parsonage. It was 10 years later that L.M. Montgomery came to board and her room overlooked the river and Malpeque Bay.
